Double Eyelid Surgery in SG: Suturing Technique Review

Posted on April 20, 2021April 20, 2021 by admin

I have been thinking about the suturing double eyelid surgery for about 2 years before finally getting to it. I wasn’t sure if I would get the results I wanted and have had to consult a few plastic surgeons to find the right one who understands what I need! Finally I settled with the top recommended plastic surgeon for double eyelid creation, Dr Adrian Ooi. And this is my review on my double eyelid procedure!

Double eyelid turn single eyelid overnight

I felt very strongly about getting the double eyelid surgery in Singapore. Although I naturally have double eyelids, they were faint and barely visible from far. Sometimes, the double eyelids fade altogether!

When I wake up on some mornings, my eyes will look puffy and I look like I have monolids. It’s frustrating to wear my makeup to go out when this happens. With puffy eyes and without makeup, I looked like I had cried all night the previous day and it made me feel very self-conscious of my appearance.

I remember looking into the mirror every morning and thinking about the different ways that I could try to brighten my appearance and look fresher. You can see how puffy my eyes look here!

It was during one of those mornings when I thought about making her double eyelids permanent. Touching my puffy eyelid, I decided it was time to stop thinking about it and surfed the Internet to look for the best recommendations for a plastic surgeon for double eyelids.

My Double Eyelid Surgery (Suturing) Review

It began with a consultation. Naturally, one of the top names that pop up in my Google searches was Dr Adrian Ooi and when I saw that double eyelid creation was one of his specialties, I booked a consultation.

The nurses at Polaris Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery were very friendly and professional! Any apprehensiveness and anxiety that I felt about getting the surgery disappeared, and Dr Adrian was kind to welcome me and walk though my treatment options.

When he told me that there were 2 different techniques to achieve double eyelids, which were the incisional and suturing techniques, I went for the less invasive option. I just needed to add emphasis to my existing double eyelids and make them more prominent, and the stitching method seems to add permanence to the features.

I was happy when Dr Adrian said he could perform the suturing technique for me. He helped me see how my new eyelids would look like by using a thin wire on my eyelids to create the creases.

I wasn’t very scared about the surgery at all, seeing Dr Adrian’s past works made me feel more confident in his skills. During the consultation process, he also helped me gain a better understanding of how the procedure will go and what to expect.

Double eyelid surgery: Day 1

When the day finally came, I was prepared and ready for the surgery. The suturing technique required administration of local anaesthesia to help with the discomfort, and this felt more like a temporary stinging pain.

I had markings made on my eyelids and then the anaesthesia started working. Throughout the surgery, I was awake but only felt slight pressure on my eyes. There was a heavy weight on my eyelids after the surgery, however, but I was reminded that it would subside over time.

This is me after the surgery!

I was led to the observation room to be monitored for complications afterwards, and when I was allowed to leave, the nurse handed me pain medication and topical ointments to care for my new eyelids.

Recovering from double eyelid surgery

The recovery process was a breeze. The swelling lessened after only 3 days, and I was happy to see that the creases on my eyelids remained after the sutures healed! I could see the full results after about a week, and I woke up to double eyelids ever since.

The best part was that the stitches did not need to be removed, and this was ideal for me. It was a fuss-free experience.

Here is me before the surgery, and more than a week after!

The results looked absolutely natural, and there were no awkward curves or creases around my eyes that indicated I had any surgery done at all. I still wake up to puffy eyes sometimes, but I have been managing my diet and lifestyle to reduce this effect. The double eyelids, however, were unaffected, and remained!

I couldn’t thank my plastic surgeon enough for giving me the eyelids I wanted, and all within a span of a month. This double eyelid surgery changed my life, and I recommend anyone who is thinking about doing it to see my plastic surgeon!
